There is something epic about the 928. This is the car the then forward looking Porsche threw a lot of energy at, resulting in the first sports car 'Car of the Year' and a schoolboy bedroom poster of a design!

The image of the car lags behind the times: it used to be perceived as a large and heavy car, at odds with being a sports because it had so many luxury car features. But electric seats, climate control and leather are what we expect now, and it is exactly the same size and weight as a current Carrera 4 and for that matter not much slower.

Climb in and you're sitting exactly between the front and rear axels in a spacious and very influential cabin design abounding with unique features such as sun blinds in the rear, cantilevered door storage lids and an instrument binnacle that adjusts with the steering wheel - this was not a car designed to cost.

The V8 dominates the drive with a quite but constant reminder of the cars potency, moving to a hard and aggressive war cry as you crack on - a noticeably different sound to the softer edged America V8s. And you've more space in the back than any 911 as well as hatchback versatility in this160mph stead.
