A proper old school BMW with a punch to match its attitude. Only 450 RHD versions of this car were produced between 1979 and 1981 and there are very few left. They are the predecessor of the legendary M5 series of super saloons, the bench mark to which all other Q cars aspire.
This is no ordinary old 5 Series. Settle into the period blue corduroy Recaro seats, hook up 1st gear where 2nd normally resides and you are away. The car pulls strongly all through the rev range and real caution has to be taken in the wet - advanced as they were, these cars date from well before the days of electronic stability control and are all the better for it; a real drivers car.
Even from the outside you know this is something special; a deep front spoiler visibly fixed, race style at the sides with black screws, an old style black rubber spoiler contrasting against the chrome trim of the bumpers and window surrounds lost in later models in favour of colour coded plastics, that aggressive shark nose and characteristic BMW pinstripes.
A full 5 seater with a decent size boot, modern day performance, classic looks and exclusivity make this possibly the best all round car on the fleet.
