0-60 - You are joking huh?
We've driven some cars in our time, but nothing prepared us for this. For years now members have been badgering us to buy a DS. We successfully managed to resist, fearing whimsical mechanical complexities more at home in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory than EC1.
Then Ian turned up to an open weekend with his beautiful '67 Pallas in dark metallic brown and sumptuous brown leather interior. We spent time waxing lyrical about the brilliance of the club and how he must join, "it will change your life" etc. etc. etc. But we couldn't stop going back and admiring the elegant sweeping lines, dramatic styling and mind-bending quirkiness of the thing.
Ian is a lovely chap; he listened intently as we enthused about the virtues of the club, admired our motors and then sold us his car! Unbelievable stealth-like sales technique -and we thought we were good.
We did get our own back though, as being an eminently sensible chap, he fell in love with CCC the same way we fell in love with his DS and promptly joined.
The DS is absolutely unbelievable, simply light years ahead of anything ever created. Our favourite feature by far, is the self-levelling suspension that can be controlled from within the car taking the ride height from sportscar low to 4x4 high in the matter of seconds; it is the original low rider.
We could bore you rigid with technical wonderments of this car but would rather leave it to the experts, as frankly we are at a loss as to where to begin. Check out these websites for more details www.citroen-ds-id.com and www.id-ds.com/PlanetD&G/ds.but.html
However, we do know that once you've mastered the hocus pocus the French consider driving, even if it isn't the fastest car in the fleet - it is definitely one of the coolest.
