The baby fiat X1/9 was the fore-runner of classics such as the Toyota MR2, MGF and Porsche Boxster, and evolved from a concept car influenced by contemporary power boat design!
With it’s brilliant space saving design this tiny car feels anything but. The cockpit is light and airy, especially with the targa panel removed and there is plenty of luggage space with stowage behind the engine and under the front bonnet. The only place where there is no room is in the engine bay, making work on the engine a bit of a nightmare – but hey that’s our problem not yours – Classic Car Club is such a brilliant thing!
On the road the car is light and nibble and the engine revs freely. Instruments, buttons and controls are scattered all over the place as you would expect from any Italian sports-car of the period. We defy you to take this car out and not return with a huge grin on your face.
