MGB Roadster

The quintesential British sportscar.

With a production run of over half a million cars in an eighteen year lifespan, the MGB is truly a success story of the British car industry. Launched in 1962 the B was based loosely around the MGA that proceeded it. The BMC B engine was bored out to 1798cc, giving a more flexible power range than the A. Early MGBs had synchromesh only on the upper three gears, a point that the contemporary continental manufactures, treated with great mirth. This nuance was eventually addressed in 1967 with the new all synchro 'box with the introduction of the unpopular automatic option. Indeed the MG, all through its production run in various guises, never felt a technologically advanced car, it did however feel truly British.

To drive an MGB, be it roadster or GT, takes great input from the driver, without ever being in any way intimidating. This was left to the substantially more powerful MGB V8! A fine balance of mechanical feel with just the right amount of user friendliness, produce a car which is tremendously rewarding to drive, deservedly earning the MGB die hard fans around the world. Today, in Britain, it is one of the most popular classic cars, book a drive today and see what all the fuss is about.
