LHD Californian import.
The 912 was introduced in 1965 as a replacement for the 356, providing a more affordable model than the 911. The 912 shares the 911 bodywork and chassis, but uses the outgoing 356, 4 cylinder engine. Far from being a compromised 911, the 250lbs lighter 912, is a car of its own, with fine nibble handling. In fact the improved front - rear weight distribution helped the 912 win the European Rally Championship of 1967 and the car was used extensively through Europe by the Police.
The light weight and aerodynamic shape also meant that the car returned a very respectable 30mpg, no small feat when you consider this was over 40 years ago in a car that could hit 115mph.
The club's new car is in fantastic condition, resplendent in bright orange with a black interior. We love it so much we just couldn't stop photographing it - we're thinking of making her our new pin up!
