CLASSIC CAR CLUB // HOW IT WORKS

How It Works

From the mind of a twisted genius, the Point System is the foundation, nay corner stone, of Classic Car Club; a cunning device that allows members to tailor their car usage to fit and enhance their lifestyle, achieving maximum amount of time behind the wheel.

Ok, bear with us, it's a bit tricky at first, but you will quickly get the hang of it.

Your subscription buys you an allocation of points (depending on the membership package you purchase). You then simply trade these points for days in cars, (straight forwards so far?) this is where you have to concentrate.

The amount of points you use on a booking, is determined by three factors - the band of the car, the season and the day of the week.

All you have to do is agonise over which car suits your needs and multiply these three factors together. When you make your booking the required amount of points will be deducted from you account - easy peasy.

Cars:

These babies are banded from 1 to 7. The banding is determined by, among other things, the cars desirability (we love 'em all, but some people find a Ferrari more appealing than a Mini), running costs, and purchase price.

Take a look at the Stable section of the website for a full listing, but read this first, once you start looking at the cars we won't get your attention again.

Seasons:

Winter = December to February = 2 points
Spring = March to May = 3 points
Summer = June to August = 4 points
Autumn = September to November = 3 points

Days of the Week

Monday to Friday (24 hours) = 1 point
Weekend (Friday Lunch to Monday Lunch) = 8 Points

Right, lets get down to the nitty gritty and take a look at some real life scenarios.

Just suppose you fancied whisking your beloved away for a short break, (let's say 3 days midweek in the summer, to a fancy spa hotel in the Cotswolds - which, coincidentally, has superb twisting country roads, ideal for a solitary thrash while the seaweed wrap is being applied. You decide the car for such an altruistic trip with your darling is the high revving Honda S2000.

Your point usage would be: band of car 5 x season 4 x weekdays 3. Therefore your break will cost you 5 x 4 x 3 = 60 points.

Here's another one for you:

Around Christmas, you want to pop over to Auntie Jean's house for the day with presents for the kids. Giving is such a pleasure especially if you turn up in a Ferrari! There's nothing quite like making your relatives sick with jealousy at this festive time of year.

Band of Car 6 x Season 2 x midweek day 1 = 12 points

One last one, this is a bit more complicated to figure out, but you're up to a challenge now:

In the spring, you decide it would be great to take a trip to the Lake District for a week of driving, a breath the fresh air and food and drink at fine local hostelries. For this trip you want the wind in your hair and a bit of classic style, the beautiful MGB roadster is just the ticket:

Midweek points usage
Band of Car 3 x Season 3 x Midweek days 5 = 45 Points

Weekend Points Usage
Band of Car 3 x Season 3 x Weekend 8 = 72 points

Adding these together gives you a grand total of 117 points.

Now, we understand that to some people the prospect of working out the points requirement for a booking, fills them with glee - others however, would rather stick needles in their eyes. There is another way: Simply give us a tinkle with your desired booking, we'll enter the raw unprocessed data into our expensive computer system and hey presto, you'll have the calculation in the blink of an eye - couldn't be easier.

Making a Booking and the Mystery of Jokers

To keep things fair and equitable you can book up to a calendar month ahead. This is a rolling calendar, so for example if today is the 5th you can book up to the 5th of next month. This is the same for everybody, pop stars, bankers, even tax inspectors - first come first served no exceptions. Requests are taken by email or by phone.

However, if you have a special occasion and want to book further ahead than this one month window you can, by using one of the ‘Jokers’ that come with your membership package; the number of which depends on the level of membership you join on.

Cars can be booked for up to five days at a time, longer periods are subject to availability and demand.
